There will be a waiting period for the beginning of the policy effect of 5 days for risks in general, but it will be prolonged to 15 days for cases of covered diseases and bloat, both counted from the arrival day of the animal to the facility indicated by the claimant or when the coverage is expressly accepted by the insurer.Covered events will be considered those that are submitted within 72 hours for accidents and 21 calendar days for diseases from the appearance of first symptoms.
- Death due to accident, lightening, fire and bloat: In cases of death due to accident or other cause for which all or part of the animal is sold at a lower price, such recovery value shall be discounted from compensation.
- Diseases:
- BVD, Bovine Viral Diarrhea.
- IBR, Rhinotracheitis – caused by Bovine Herpes virus type 1.
- PI3, Parainfluenza type 3.
- Haemophilus somnus – caused by Haemophilus somnus.
- Enterotoxemia – caused by Clostridium perfringens type C and D.
- Anthrax – caused by Bacillus anthracis.
- Stain or symptomatic anthrax – caused by Clostridium chauvoei.
- Gas gangrene or Myonecrosis – caused by different virus such as Clostridium septicum, Clostridium perfringens, Clostridium chauvoei and Clostridium sordelli.
- Poisoning
- Deaths for poisoning are covered as a consequence of eating fodder, rations and other animals feeding products not intentionally altered, with a maximum of 20% of the total insured sum.
There shall be no compensation when death is caused due to:- Epizootic disease or diseases for which the Claimant has the right of being compensated with public resources, even when such right might be lost due to rules violation of sanitary inspection (Art. 100 section A - Insurance Act)
- Death, destruction or damage by order of any government authority, in law or in factor by any Public authority;
- Sadness disease (bovine anaplasmosis), or having being under tests or trials for immunization against such disease; tests or trials for immunization against any other disease, carried out with vaccines not approved by the relevant authority, or which have being supplied in doses or ways not prescribed by the participant veterinarian
- Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) (Mad cow disease)
- Mastitis
- Covered diseases but which have being acquired by contagion of other non-covered animals
- Animal not receiving care or attention from the Claimant or their dependent staff
- Revenge of the dependent staff of Claimant
- Lack of water
- Poisoning due to drinking unfit water and/or eating non-fodder species
- Unfulfillment of agreed action in Health Plan
- Lack of availability of vaccines in the market as well as the inability of carrying out vaccine tasks
- Acidosis and other non-covered eating disorders
- Floods and their consequences
- High and low temperatures that affect animals with nutritional deficiencies.
- Surgical practices.
- Robbery, its attempt and/or theft.
Also are excluded claims for:- Profit or potential benefit
- Lost profit
- Commercial risks, price risks or sale inability
- Civil Liability over animals to be covered
- Economic losses due to pregnancy, abortions or miscarriage and their consequences.
Excluded from this coverage are calves born during the effect thereof, as well as unborn; for example: giving birth death animals.
DEDUCICTIBLE:- Of 0.25% from the total of insured animals per event, (with the minimum application for the equivalent of two (2) animals per event.
- A limit of deductible for the effect period the Policy (1 year) of 1.50% over the total of animals. This means that, regardless the amount of events, the total sum of deductibles applied in the annual additional cannot exceed 1.5%.
- For the purpose of application in case of incident, there shall be used as calculated sum first calculating the number of animals according to the herd y then becoming that amount too insured sum, in the following way: animals to be deducted x average weight x average price per kilo.
COMPENSATING PROCEDURE:- Reporting animals' death within 12 hours after occurrence.
- Verification cause of death.
- Determination of weight animals implied in the incident and calculation of average weight per animal implied in the incident.
- Verification of accuracy of insured sum, comparing the number of insured animals with the number of animals in feedlot:
- If the number of animals in feedlot is equal or less than the amount of insured animals, in the compensation calculation we use animals implied in the incident minus the corresponding deductible (factor 1).
- If the number of animals in feedlot is greater than the amount of insured animals, in the compensation calculation we use animals implied in the incident adjusted in the same proportion than insured animals have with the ones actually existing at the moment of the incident (prorate). Factor= insured animals / real animals
- Compensation calculation: [(animals implied in incident –deductible) x prorate factor] x average weight per animal implied in incident x Value per kilo.
- Effect: annual.
- Maximum insured sum: correspond to the maximum stock of cattle ranch during the policy effect.
- Deposit premium: a deposit premium is established equivalent to 40% of insured sum. Variations of insured sum due to more or less amount of animals shall be adjusted according to the proportionality of time elapsed.
